When he was thirteen, the Jin Kingdom fell. Jin Yun, the third prince, was sent to the Xuan Kingdom as a hostage. Looking back at his old capital before he left, he saw only his young sister disappearing into the morning mist. He didn’t know whom to hate.
Seven years later, he returned. Armed with patience and cunning, he would maneuver among the three great nations of the primary colors, reclaim his homeland, and find the answers he sought.
But restoring the kingdom was only the beginning. Every clue pointed in a direction he had never imagined. What he was looking for had never been a name.
At last, standing before a spring whose waters shimmered with seven colors, he understood: some choices are harder than conquering the realm.
In the end, his grandson asked him, “Grandfather, am I a son of Jin or a son of Chi?”
He patted the boy’s head. “You’re human.”
When the smoke of war has cleared, the true beginning comes after color loses its meaning.
