The Trespasser and Her Reflection

(Central theme: The “Identity Thief” in the title has two meanings. First, Lu Huaizhi, who tries to overstep moral boundaries, greedily claiming both the “real thing” and the “copy.” Second, Shen Qingzi and Lin Wei, who try to steal someone else’s identity and become another person’s “reflection.” “She” refers to the one and only real Su Qing, while the “reflections” symbolize the two imitators’ illusory, fragile existences. The title foretells a parable of stolen identities and ultimate disillusionment.) (Central theme: “Mountain Moon” symbolizes the heroine Su Qing’s cool, resilient, unshakable nature, while “Matters of the Heart” refers to the hidden desires, schemes, and betrayals of those around her, including her husband and her stand-in. The title evokes the image of the moon hanging high above, calmly watching the delusions of the world, while those lost in such delusions ultimately reap what they sow.)
