The Song Dynasty's Biggest Rogue

Setting: During the reign of Emperor Renzong of the Northern Song, around the Qingli era. The border threat from Western Xia remains unresolved, the internal “three excesses” are severe, Fan Zhongyan is implementing the “Qingli Reforms,” and the first signs of a struggle between old and new factions are emerging.

Core premise: A modern scholar of sociology and agricultural science transmigrates into the body of a notorious wastrel in Bianjing. To conceal his identity, he has no choice but to keep up his debauched ways. While officials across the court think he spends his days eating, drinking, and chasing women, he is actually using social research methods to rebuild the Great Song’s tax system and border defenses.
