The male protagonist, Lu Chen, was originally a genius within the Xuantian Sect. He was framed by his fellow disciples and was deprived of his cultivation and expelled from the sect. When he was living in the wilderness, he was taken in by a greedy teahouse proprietress. In a desperate situation, Lu Chen awakens the "behind-the-scenes system", which can attract souls from other worlds to come and reshape his body. He used the world of immortality as a map, disguised mortal souls as "players", built the teahouse into a "novice village", and himself became a mysterious NPC issuing tasks. In order to gain experience and equipment, players frantically hunt down monsters, search for spiritual herbs, and even leapfrog levels to attack powerful immortal cultivators.
