Ximen Yu was born in the most dilapidated tube building in the county. His father was riding a three-wheeler and his mother was seriously ill. In order to repay a three thousand usury loan, he was blocked in an alley on a rainy night by Zhou Bin, with cigarette butts burned on the back of his hands. Ex-girlfriend Lin Wan'er was sitting in the enemy's car without looking at him. The hospital calls for payment, Zhou Bin presses for debts, his father's rickety back, and his mother's pale face. Seventeen-year-old Ximen Yu had no way out, so he left a note behind and fled into Beimang Mountain. He studied under a master for one and a half years and then entered the Soul Hall to practice for two years. When he comes back from the mountain three years later, he wants to take back everything that belongs to him.

This is not a "good book" in the traditional sense.
It has no aura of protagonist, no overnight success, no invincibility. Every step of Ximenyu's growth was obtained with sweat, blood and dignity.
But that's exactly what's most touching about it.
