Evening Reading Hours

At twenty-six, Su Wan runs a small independent bookstore in Xinghai City. It is a keepsake left to her by her grandmother, and a refuge from the world of romance. An unrequited crush from her university days taught her to hide her feelings between the pages of books.

Then a redevelopment project for the old neighborhood gets underway, and Lu Zhao, a renowned twenty-nine-year-old architect, appears at the bookstore's door.

He is known in the industry as a workaholic, with a stern appearance and decisive manner. From their very first meeting, they clash over whether the bookstore should be preserved. But gradually, Su Wan discovers that this seemingly cold man quietly fixes her wobbly bookshelves, braves a rainstorm to help save her books, and secretly adjusts his plans to preserve her bookstore.

As two equally lonely hearts begin to draw closer, one obstacle after another stands in their way. Her mother's disapproval, the gap in their social status, the sudden reappearance of her senior from university, and a fire that burns down the bookstore… Each new trial makes Su Wan want to retreat, but Lu Zhao shows her through his actions: “I'm here. Don't be afraid.”

This is a story about waiting and finding each other. The evening breeze is gentle, the sun is blazing, and when the wind blows across the sun, all their loneliness turns into light for one another.
