“I, Emperor Xin, sovereign of humanity, hereby report to the Great Dao. The human race was born under Heaven’s mandate, yet has never known a moment of freedom. Today, I establish the Human Way and spread its teachings among humanity, so we may contend with Heaven and Earth for freedom.”
Empress Wa said, “How dare you, Emperor Xin, presume to establish the Human Way! Do not forget: your blood and bones are gifts bestowed upon you.”
“Though I was born, I was not raised. Severing a finger would repay that debt. I shall shatter my own sovereign’s Dao fruit to repay you. Great Dao above, bear witness for me.”
