Kunlun Ruins: Smoke Trees over Two Capitals

This work centers on reflections on the land and its rivers and mountains, and on history as a mirror. Its narrative unfolds along one of the most symbolically significant geographic axes in Chinese history: the Qinling Mountains, the Xiaohan Ancient Road, and the two capitals of Chang'an and Luoyang. Stretching across the heartland of Chinese civilization, this route links the rise and fall of the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties and bears the hopes and feelings of countless scholars and generals for their families and country. It is a "geographic key" to understanding Chinese history.
