The story is set against the backdrop of a century of chaos from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. It tells the story of Chen Mingming, the legitimate son of a prominent family in the south of the Yangtze River. When his family was ruined, he was redeemed by Si Huanjun Fengxue, a woman who had returned from abroad and cared about her country. One rescue, one favor, one life. The two met, stayed together, separated, and missed each other in the turbulent years. Using a pen as a token, they integrated their personal feelings into the mountains and rivers of their family and country, passed down the inheritance across five generations, and finally saw peace in the world.
The whole story begins with sadness and ends with joy, describing the inability to control oneself in troubled times, and also describing the sincerity that refuses to be extinguished in the dust.
