Shen Qingci is transmigrated into a book as a disposable character who knows he won’t survive past the third chapter.
To stay alive, he flees in the middle of the night and hides in a remote town, hoping to live a quiet, uneventful life.
He opens a little shop and settles into a plain, humdrum routine.
His only pastime is visiting the blacksmith’s shop on the east side of town every day.
The blacksmith is tall and quiet, with rough hands and a thoughtful heart. He protects Shen Qingci so thoroughly that not even a drop of water could get near him.
Delighted, Shen Qingci thinks he’s found himself a dependable man to lean on.
Until one day, the pursuers arrive. The blacksmith appears in full armor, a long sword in hand, his imposing presence shaking the entire town as he says calmly:
“Who dares lay a hand on my man?”
Shen Qingci: ???
Aren’t you a blacksmith?!
Only later does he learn that
though he managed to avoid every plot point, he had stumbled straight into the heart of this hidden powerhouse.
