Synopsis:
After Lin Yanzhi dies suddenly in the lab, he is bound by a System calling itself 001 and forced to begin a life-prolonging mission spanning 200 worlds. The rules are simple: transmigrate into different small worlds, correct the plots that have gone astray, and raise certain characters' affection levels to the required amount.
What he doesn't expect is that the "designated character" in every world has an almost identical face. Sometimes he's a rebellious school bully, sometimes a sinister and ruthless power-hungry court official, sometimes a cold, hard base commander in the apocalypse, and sometimes an exalted imperial marshal in the interstellar era...
Even more troubling, this "designated character" seems to have a talent for going off the rails.
In the school arc, the aloof top student is supposed to give him the cold shoulder. But when Lin Yanzhi is bullied, he pins the bullies against the wall and beats them black and blue, his gaze sinister. "You dare lay a hand on my man?"
In the political intrigue arc, the ambitious regent is supposed to be a schemer. But when Lin Yanzhi fakes his death to escape, the regent goes mad and tears down half the imperial city, repeating hoarsely, "Give him back to me..."
In the apocalypse arc, the pragmatist who puts profit first is supposed to be all about his own interests. But when Lin Yanzhi is surrounded by zombies, he throws himself in front of him without hesitation. Blood blurs his vision, and all he manages to say is, "Run."
Lin Yanzhi looks at the mission screen as the affection level soars from the negatives to off the charts, then glances at the "target" before him, whose gaze is growing more and more unsettling. He falls into deep thought: Isn't something wrong with this plot?
Only later does he learn that the so-called "designated character" has carried all his memories with him since the very first world. What they call "going off the rails" is nothing more than someone crossing countless worlds,
