Yan Lin is the chief instructor of a sniper training unit. Two of his top students, Han Guang and Cai Xiaochun, are brothers who have stood by each other through thick and thin, as well as rivals competing against each other. They also both fall in love with military doctor Zhao Baihe. During an operation, Cai Xiaochun is discharged from the military for violating regulations. Zhao Baihe leaves the army with him, and later word reaches them that he has gone abroad and become a mercenary. Five years later, Han Guang, now a decorated sniper, transfers to Binhai. His custom sniper rifle is mysteriously stolen, and Zhao Baihe is killed with it. Han Guang becomes a murder suspect on the run.
