The Half-Trigram Hall

Zhang Xiaofan, 24, is the proprietor of the Half-Gua Hall fortune-telling shop in a Shanghai urban village. His underworld nickname is the Half-Gua Immortal: he reads only half a hexagram, leaving the other half to honor cause and effect.

Raised in an orphanage, his origins are a mystery. On the night he was born, the entire Zhang family was wiped out. Someone secretly sent him to an orphanage, and his only keepsakes were half of a damaged copy of The Book of Changes of Lianshan, half of a jade pendant engraved with an inverted Lianshan hexagram, and a faint scar on his face left over from infancy.

He is the direct heir to the family’s Lianshan divination tradition, skilled in tracking qi through hexagrams, reading a person’s fate from their aura, and using feng shui to break a formation. He lives by three ironclad rules: never divine windfall wealth, never pry into private affairs, and never read his own fate.

One strange incident after another in the city pulls this down-and-out fortune-teller, who only wants a quiet life, into the hidden world of the martial underworld...
