A young boy from the Lower Brethren accidentally awakens the ability to "rewrite" the breath of life, and is involved in a thousand-year prophecy that affects the survival of the world. He gathers his companions in pursuit and betrayal, challenges the rule of the god-like breath readers, and finally faces a choice - to awaken the sleeping breath, or to let this cruel world continue to exist.
