Marriage before love / wealthy CEO / older man / extra sweet romance
Pure, well-behaved girl on the outside vs. cool, chaste man on the outside
Synopsis:
Chu Xingyan never imagined she would marry Gu Jinzhou in place of her half-sister.
That aloof, highborn man had once been her “brother-in-law.” He was the heir to the Gu Group in the capital and a business legend surrounded by rumors. She, on the other hand, was just a pawn the Chu family used to turn its fortunes around: an unwanted “replacement” who had been frail and sickly since childhood.
The day after the wedding, he left the country on business, while she returned to school to collect her diploma. When they met again a month later, they began a marriage under the same roof that was harmonious in appearance only. He thought she was merely a docile, obedient ornament. She thought he was a womanizer who would take anyone who came along. Then, one night, she fell asleep with a fever, and he bent over to give her medicine. Later, when she brought him to her family home and her father slapped her, he took her hand and said, “Whoever hurt her will answer to me.”
From distance to tentative advances, from misunderstandings to growing closer, two people burdened by their own heartaches slowly discovered each other’s true warmth in this marriage of convenience. But as shadows from the past, family schemes, and a storm of rumors came one after another, could they find the one thing called “loyalty” amid their cold relationship of mutual interest?
She asked, “If you have someone else on the side, we’ll get divorced.”
He answered, “I don’t.”
She asked again, “The most important thing in marriage is loyalty. What do you think?”
He met her gaze. “I agree.”
