A former teenage martial arts champion from humble beginnings and a mysterious background saves a wealthy family’s illegitimate son with a pole-vaulting leap on a rainy night. By a twist of fate, she becomes his bodyguard and is drawn into a family power struggle and a covert business war. In the end, she joins forces with the male lead to carve out a place of her own amid the danger. This is more than a simple, subversive tale of a hero saving a beauty. It explores the barriers between social classes and how they can be crossed, how sincere feelings are forged in a whirlpool of self-interest, and how a woman can realize her own worth through resilience and wisdom in the face of adversity.
