Siheyuan: The Immortals' Cultivation Tale

Lin Qi transmigrates.

He arrives in a Beijing courtyard in 1965, just as Silly Zhu and Xu Damao are fighting. So far, so normal.

Then Silly Zhu's fists start crackling with true qi, while immortal light coils around Xu Damao's hands. Wait, what?!

This was supposed to be a period drama. How has the whole cast started cultivating immortality?!

Jia Zhangshi, sprawled on her bed, munching sunflower seeds and cursing everyone out, is at the sixth level of Qi Refining, the courtyard's top expert.

Qin Huairu, the beautiful, white-lotus widow, is at the fifth level of Qi Refining. Her cultivation relies entirely on “borrowing.”

Yi Zhonghai, the Daoist Venerable of Morality, is at the fourth level of Qi Refining. His signature skill is “settle courtyard business in the courtyard.”

Silly Zhu, the lovesick God of War, is at the fifth level of Qi Refining. His daily missions: fawn over Qin Huairu, beat up Xu Damao, and bully Lin Qi.

As for Lin Qi, he's stuck at the third level of Qi Refining, where he's been for a year. The whole courtyard agrees he's a useless nobody.

Silly Zhu blocks his doorway. “We'll fight next month. If you lose, your pills are mine!”

Lin Qi glances at his family's inherited Manual of the Nine Transformations of the Profound Heavens. It lets him cultivate ten times faster, though it costs him a bit of his life.

Then he recalls the military combat drills, mixed martial arts, and one-strike takedowns from his past life.

He smiles.

Fifth level of Qi Refining, huh?

Ever heard the saying:

“No matter how fierce your true qi, you're no match for a brick. No matter how high your cultivation, one punch will put you down.”
