In 1924, Ji Fang, a top student from Baoding, went south to Huangpu. He wanted to wait for a few years before leaving, but he was stymied by a group of students from humble backgrounds with mixed qualifications. The wind and rain playground on Cheung Chau Island, the muddy mountain road on the front line of the Dongjiang River, and the separation of life and death during the Northern Expedition made him go from being contemptuous to being moved, from watching to being deeply involved. There are no frivolous legends here, only how a group of young people learned to stand firm and support each other in troubled times, and lived their ideals bit by bit into flesh and blood.
