This is a parallel world based on the history of the late Eastern Han dynasty, but with the addition of a “high martial arts world” setting.
In this world, martial prowess reigns supreme. An individual's strength can reach the level of taking on ten thousand enemies, even changing the course of battles and affecting the fate of the nation. Top martial artists possess extraordinary abilities, such as splitting mountains, diverting rivers, walking through the air, and sensing with their spiritual consciousness. They cannot cultivate immortality, however, and still fall within the bounds of “human martial arts.”
Historical events are shaped by martial arts: famous battles are not just contests of strategy and numbers, but duels between each side's top martial artists. Political struggles also conceal power plays between martial arts factions.
The deeper reasons for the Han dynasty's decline: During Emperor Ling's reign, the imperial family's martial arts tradition was severed and the nation's guardian artifact was lost. This caused the central government to lose much of its control over powerful local martial clans, leading to the warlords' division of the realm.
