A century-old house. A curse passed down through generations. Carved into the wall are the family rules: “If you hear footsteps on the stairs late at night, whatever you do, don’t look back.”
Something lives in the old house: a woman wearing embroidered shoes. A hundred years ago, she saved an ancestor who was about to throw himself into the river, on one condition: she would live here and sleep here. She protects the family from disaster, even taking their place in death, but they must never look back at her. Anyone who does must “switch places” with her: she takes their place, they sleep in hers, and they never wake again.
