The Road Back Through Time: Jiang Lin in 1960

In the winter of 1960, bitter north winds swept through the capital. Jiang Lin, a young man from the future, was reborn in an ordinary alley, carrying a memory and an “infinite space.”

There would be no wanton spending of a golden finger, only the warmth of making every bit count: How could he get his hardworking parents a plate of meat dumplings? How could he keep his brilliant older sister from being overlooked by the times? How could he help his straightforward older brother find his place in life?

Jiang Lin chose to start by protecting the warm yet fragile home right in front of him. With a vision beyond his time and the limited “miracles” in his space, he was like a stone dropped into a lake, sending ripples slowly outward to benefit his neighbors and bring good fortune to the factories and mines.

As trust grew and the weight of the times settled on his shoulders, he made the biggest gamble of his life: he gave his secret to his country. From then on, he became the Republic’s most secret “cornerstone,” an “invisible hand” supporting the hopes of the nation through its most difficult years.

This is not one person’s legend, but the epic of a whole community. It is the clang of tools in his father’s workshop, his mother mending clothes by lamplight, the silent support of his beloved, and the steadfast trust of his friends. Against the backdrop of grand historical events, their resilience through the daily struggle for food and shelter, and the vividness of their love and hatred, weave a magnificent story of “coming home” and “setting forth.”

From alleyways to factories and mines, from the earth to deep space, this is a “road home” paved with duty and love. The story begins on a snowy morning in 1960…
