History is inherently exciting, and it can be very interesting to watch - the two hundred and eighty-nine years of the Tang Dynasty, there were prosperity in the prosperous age and tragedy in the troubled times. There is the wisdom of a wise king, and there is the absurdity of a faint king. He has the courage of a loyal minister and the cunning of a traitor. There is the romance of a poet and the heroism of a soldier. Those people and those things are all in the past. But every time I read "Recalling the Heyday of Kaiyuan in the Past", I still can't help but think about what kind of era it was.
It was an era when a woman could be the emperor,
An era when poets can become prime ministers,
An era when all nations come to court.
That was the Tang Dynasty. That's what we used to be.
