On the third day of the apocalypse, at the university library. Chen Cang, head of the Survival Association, has run out of ammunition and food. On the brink of death, he binds himself to the "Romance Supply System." The System informs him that his emotional value is zero and he has less than seventy-two hours to live. His only way out is to make his target feel something for him. Affection, fear, anger, a racing heart: all can be exchanged for survival supplies.
In the reading room next door, Su Wan, the most aloof beauty on campus, is hiding.
To stay alive, Chen Cang begins an KPI-style fight for survival: carrying her bridal-style earns fear points, giving her water earns gratitude points, and protecting her from zombies earns heartache points. He completes the System's missions in the most cluelessly macho way, yet time and again, in life-or-death moments, he gives her the chance to survive. Su Wan goes from loathing him to being curious, from wariness to dependence. Gradually, she realizes that this boy who keeps talking about "System missions" always puts himself between her and danger.
When the "Mutual Attraction Value" on the System's panel quietly goes through the roof, they both realize that the act that began as a mission has long since become real.
The apocalypse is cold, but two people's body heat is just right.
