Core settings
worldview
The modern city is calm on the surface, but in fact it is in the early stages of supernatural recovery. Ordinary people can't see ghosts, but the protagonist's live broadcast audience can.
Protagonist character
Chen Fan. A poor college student who takes orders to shoot "supernatural videos" for living expenses. The character is extremely afraid of death, but has to bite the bullet for money (or survival). He has a "crow's mouth" physique, and the more he fears, the more likely he will get, but he can always escape death by relying on his clever tricks.
Core conflict
The protagonist needs to catch ghosts through live broadcasts to make money/pay off debts/solve his own crisis, but every live broadcast will attract more terrifying things. At the same time, he has to disguise himself as a "special effects artist" in front of the camera to prevent the audience and the authorities from treating him as a madman.
Funny source
- Cute contrast: The protagonist is panicking on the inside, but on the outside he is forcibly calm and talks nonsense seriously (such as calling a ghost a "special effects actor").
- Audience perspective: In the barrage, the audience thought they were watching a special effects show and frantically scrolled "666", but the protagonist was struggling on the edge of life and death.
- Ghost complaints: Encounter some ghosts with weird personalities, even more cowardly than the protagonist.
Counterattack foreshadowing
The protagonist actually possesses the Taoist heritage, but it has been temporarily sealed. He needs to accumulate popularity/merit points through live broadcasts to unblock it.
