Lu Miao, an unemployed post-95s generation, was given money by relatives to take over a cafe that was on the verge of bankruptcy. After it opened, she discovered that the regular customers were all "human beings": a social vixen (who worked overtime until three in the morning every day and had a bald tail), a down-and-out scholar who was in his tenth year of the public examination (ordered a cup of American food and sat there all day), and a bull-headed horse-faced man who was driven crazy by KPIs (who came to drink coffee and complain about the KPI reform in the underworld). The cafe became an "emotional shelter" for urban aliens, until one day, an official from the "Underworld Rectification Office" came to her door and said that her shop was "operating without a license and illegally housing orphans and ghosts."
