Su Qingwan, heir to a martial arts clan in the twenty-third century and a peerless ghost doctor, transmigrates into the legitimate daughter of a marquis’s household, a “jinx” who was abandoned for ten years. After an imperial decree of marriage, she is forced to wed Xiao Jue, the War God Prince of Jing, a dying, paralyzed man, to bring him good fortune.
On their wedding night, the handsome prince sits in his wheelchair, barely clinging to life. Su Qingwan takes his pulse and raises an eyebrow. “I can cure you, but it’ll hurt.” Xiao Jue looks up. “If I’m not afraid to die, why would I be afraid of pain?”
From then on, the disabled prince has a little princess consort constantly making him drink bitter medicine and endure acupuncture. By day, she disguises herself and opens the Hall of Rejuvenation, selling miracle medicines, saving the Emperor’s life, and training elite soldiers, while holding the economic lifeline of Great Yong in her hands. By night, she uses spiritual spring water to detoxify him and keep him alive. Wherever her silver needles pass, deadwood blooms anew.
While the marquis’s household waits to see her become a widow, Su Qingwan has already grown richer than a nation. When enemy forces invade and no one in court can respond, Prince Jing rises from his wheelchair and dons his armor once more. At his side, his consort in red uses silver needles to decide life and death, and a longsword to break through a thousand troops.
Only later do people learn the truth: the prince’s legs were healed by his consort, the Emperor’s life was saved by her, and she poisoned the enemy army into submission. Those who once mocked her for marrying a disabled prince now kneel and beg her for a pill.
Xiao Jue draws her into his arms and chuckles. “What else does my princess consort want to try?” Su Qingwan counts her banknotes and looks up. “The Western Regions trade route still isn’t open, and we haven’t started digging the pearl mines in the East Sea.”
This is a satisfying, sweet story of an abandoned daughter and a disabled prince saving each other. She heals his body, he protects her heart, and together they take down villains, build their careers, grow fabulously wealthy, and rise to the height of power.
