Director Against the Grain: From Theater to the Spring Festival Box Office

Ye Mo’s journey as a director began with a high-stakes gamble. He gave up a secure life, sought out the down-and-out Happy Twist troupe, and painstakingly developed the script for Goodbye Mr. Loser. Facing Guo Xiaoming’s snide remarks, the theaters’ obstruction, and a storm of online criticism, he never backed down. With word of mouth as his blade and talent as his shield, he took on the crowded Spring Festival box office and shattered every doubt, turning a seemingly doomed gamble into a comeback story that would go down in film history.
