It tells the story of Su Lingwan, the adopted daughter of Xiuzhuang in Tianjin Wei during the Republic of China, who married on behalf of her sister to repay her kindness, and Shen Wanzhi, the second son of a shipping company who intended to interfere with the marriage, mistakenly believed that they were married because of "marriage instead of substitution". While living together under the pseudo-Fengxuhuang, the two gradually fell in love as they worked together to solve the crisis at Xiuzhuang and the secret shipping case, but they broke up and separated after the truth about their identities was exposed.
Over the years, Su Lingwan grew up to be an independent female entrepreneur in Shanghai, while Shen Wanzhi became the helmsman of Tianjin Shipping. When the war broke out in the Northern Expedition, the two reunited because of their common enemy and the righteousness of their family and country. They finally solved their misunderstanding and worked together to break the situation. Not only did they achieve mutual success in the business war, but also under the shadow of the Japanese invasion of China, they took shipping as their veins and Xiuzhuang as their focus to stick to Tianjin, integrating their love for their children into their family and country responsibilities, and performing an epic of the Republic of China from misplaced entanglement to two-way redemption.
