This is a story of loss, search and redemption.
Twenty-four-year-old Lu Wangshu grew up alone after his parents divorced. After graduating from graduate school, he was troubled by money. Twenty-two-year-old Shen Yanzhou, the prince of Beicheng, was arrogant and domineering, but he saw that cold and distant figure in the bar.
A one-year "accompanying agreement" tied two people who should not have crossed paths together.
He thought it was just a game, but he cooked millet porridge when he had a stomachache, stayed with him silently when he lost control, and said "I am here" when he was most vulnerable.
He thought it was just a transaction, but he put the hundred-dollar bill he gave him at the bottom of the drawer and was reluctant to spend it. He carefully collected every sticky note he left. He wrote "I really want to have a family with him" on the title page of the book and then crossed it out immediately - afraid of being seen by others, and even more afraid of being taken seriously.
But when the pressure from the outside world comes, when the phrase "bought stuff" comes out——
All the tenderness shattered into glass at that moment.
Three years later, he found him in a public welfare library in a small southern town.
Shen Yanzhou, who had lost all his youthfulness, would hide in a corner and watch him every day, anonymously donate his favorite out-of-print books, and quietly put a glass of hot milk for him when he was working the night shift.
He didn't ask for forgiveness, he just asked for a "chance to serve his sentence."
And that rainy night, when the out-of-print book that was protected in his arms was handed over, Lu Wangshu finally understood——
Some debts cannot be repaid in a lifetime.
Some people just can't be forgotten if they can't forget them
