I would like to explain why one of the labels of this book is "Shuangwen". Many readers may feel that cool novels should not have so many deaths and the protagonist should not suffer so much.
But what I want to say is that in that era, "satisfaction" was not about living, but dying well.
Shen Manni's happiness is not the happiness of cheating all the way and achieving success. But when you are most desperate, it feels good to still grit your teeth and persevere. It's a pleasure to watch your comrades fall down one by one, but still stand up and continue fighting. It is the pleasure of saying goodbye to your beloved under the moonlight and turning around to move towards a new life.
The real joy is not not getting hurt, but being able to stand up after getting hurt.
The real hero is not immortal, but worthy of death.
