He Zhi, Awaiting Ling Yi

{Radiant Princess & Older Man Who Fights for Her}

The second male lead takes his shot and fights to win her over.

“Zhou Shengye, if you don’t come back tonight, then we’re…” Zhou Shengye cut her off. “Lingyi, be good. She’s not feeling well. I have to take care of her.”

Ji Lingyi stared at the dark screen, utterly defeated.

Drunk and disoriented, she went into the wrong room and tumbled straight into Fang Hezhi’s bed.

The Ji and Fang families had been close for generations, each holding up half the sky.

Fang Hezhi was head of the Fang family, cold, restrained, and indifferent to others.

Ji Lingyi had been afraid of him since she was little.

When she woke the next day, she thought he would throw her out.

As she hurriedly put on her shoes, a barely perceptible smile flickered in his eyes. “Why are you running? I don’t bite.”

Only later did she learn that he really didn’t bite.

He taught her to bare her claws in board meetings and how to outmaneuver that pack of wolves and tigers. When someone splashed wine on her, he wiped the moisture from her collar. Three days later, the company that did it was bankrupt and being liquidated.

He paved a broad road for her, then stayed right behind her every step of the way.

Zhou Shengye knelt outside the Pei family gates. “Lingyi, I was wrong…”

Fang Hezhi stood in the doorway, his coat wrapped around her as she stirred from sleep. He bent down and kissed the crown of her head. “It’s cold out. Let’s go back to bed.”

Then he looked toward the man outside, his voice calm. “She was worn out last night. Whatever you have to say, save it for another day.”

As the gate closed, Zhou Shengye saw the hand around her waist.

The hand that held Longcheng’s fate in its grasp was now gently drawing her collar closed.

Late at night, she curled up in his arms as he massaged her waist, kissing her shoulder. “Baby,” he murmured, sounding like a big dog. “From now on, only look at me, okay?”
