Deep in the Cangwu Mountains lies a hidden valley of flowers. Its people take butterflies as their spirits and use pollen as medicine. Though they live apart from the world, they possess the essence of the King Butterfly, which can neutralize every poison under heaven.
Wanyi is the King Butterfly the Valley of Flowers has hidden away for sixteen years: innocent, lively, and carefree. One day, she sneaks into the human world and runs into the young general Shen Jingci at the Wangdie Inn. He is seeking medicine for the emperor.
A bloody case involving butterfly powder stirs up trouble along the border; a conspiracy in the imperial palace sets the capital ablaze with turmoil.
He is cold and merciless, yet shows tenderness and indulgence only to her. She is guileless and clever, yet willing to risk her life for him.
From border fires to power struggles in the capital, from the Butterfly Valley's hidden realm to peace across the land,
he guards his homeland with his spear, while she protects her beloved with a million butterflies.
On the day peace comes to the land, he abandons all his wealth and glory to live in seclusion with her in the Cangshan Mountains.
From then on, the butterflies return to the valley of flowers, and you return to my heart. Year after year, we will stay together and see each other always.
