[Period setting, military marriage, adorable child, contrasting professions, sweet romance]
Gu Hanshan, the youngest commander in the capital's military district, was cold and hard-hearted. Unfortunately, he was supposedly “the last of his line,” with an injury to his foundations that meant he could never have children.
That was until a three-and-a-half-year-old showed up at the military district's gates.
The little one wore a miniature Daoist robe and shook a soul-summoning bell, dragging a “long object” behind her as she shouted, “Living people, stand back! Return to your place!”
That shout was enough to make the soul of Commander Gu, who was doing his morning exercises, fly right out of him.
The little one not only looked like him, she had also dragged her own mother there, treating her like a “corpse”!
That night, Gu Hanshan looked at the “female corpse” on the bed, a curvaceous woman passed out drunk, then glanced at the daughter beside her. She was holding a peachwood sword and performing a ritual for him, hoping to get some milk.
Commander Gu's Adam's apple bobbed, his gaze dark. “What kind of corpse-driving is this? She's trying to drive the life right out of me...”
As long as you're bold enough, you can bring the commander home on leave!
The author should be more careful when writing and clarify the ethical hierarchy among the characters! Your second grandfather is your grandfather's brother, not your father's brother. Your second grandfather and your grandfather are of the same generation, and your second grandfather is your father's elder! Your father and your second grandfather's daughter are cousins of the same generation! You should call your second grandfather's daughter cousin, not just cousin!!!!!
I think the setting is quite interesting. It's just seventies, metaphysics, paternity testing, printing and so on. It's a bit ridiculous.
This book is so beautiful.
