Hundreds of thousands of people visit Wudang Mountain every year, but there’s one place that doesn’t appear on any map. It’s called Hidden Immortal Cliff. On the cliff stand an old locust tree and three wooden houses, with a cave cut into the rock. Carved into its walls are sixteen words: the Way, the heart, stillness, concealment, perseverance, harmony... Nineteen generations of people, seven hundred years.
The story begins in 1938. A boy named A Fu collapses by the roadside amid the chaos of war. A Daoist priest surnamed Wang rescues him and takes him back to Hidden Immortal Cliff. Priest Wang tells him that their sect is called the Wudang Penglai School. They revere Ancestor Lu as the founder of their alchemical arts and Zhang Sanfeng as the patriarch of their Daoist practices. The sect has passed through fifteen generations and accepts no clever people, only “those close to death,” because the Way exists to save people.
From then on, A Fu is called Li Chengpu, the sixteenth-generation successor.

He learns to sit in meditation, practice martial arts, gather herbs and treat the sick, and guard the mountain. After his master passes away, he keeps watch alone, then eventually takes disciples of his own. Generation after generation, the tradition continues.
Some descend the mountain to save people in times of turmoil, some guide lost travelers deep in the mountains, and some carve their names into the cave of the patriarchs. Dynasties
