Lin Wan, an archaeology student at Peking University, enters an ancient tomb on Mount Li to break her family's century-old curse. The tomb keeper, Shi Meng, acts as her guide, but the true bond lies deeper within: the Tang dynasty general Li Ye, transformed into a guardian spirit after taking a longevity pill made from a tortoise, has been waiting for her for more than a thousand years. They brave a corridor of child spirits, a mercury passage, and layers of bronze mechanical beasts. Then the sound of marching troops echoes from the depths of the First Emperor's mausoleum.
