Li Xi had been a reporter for five years. In the end, one article landed her in court as a defendant. Later, hoping to clear her mind, she went to Tibet, where she met Luosang atop a snow-capped mountain. He rescued her in a blizzard, dressed in a red Tibetan robe, his face serene, as though he did not belong to this world. One glance was all it took to leave me lost in a love that would slowly consume my life.
Luosang is the Su Zhi of the Qulang people, living deep in Mount Yangjingangla. Su Zhi, Sujñāna in Sanskrit: supreme goodness and wisdom, pure sacred wisdom.
Li Xi: “Yangjingangla means ‘the mountain protected by the Goddess of Wondrous Music.’ How come the Goddess of Wondrous Music is a man?”
Luosang: “Maybe the goddess didn't want to speak, so she sent someone to listen for her.”
At first, Li Xi thought being a Su Zhi was quite impressive. Even in modern society, he was treated like some kind of holy man and respected wherever he went. Later, she realized that the title Su Zhi was like a shackle, binding him to this snow-capped mountain. His soul, too, was imprisoned there.
Li Xi: I have knelt before every Buddha, asking only this: let him live one peaceful life.
Luosang: May she live in good health, safe and sound, with a smooth and peaceful life, free of calamity and hardship.
The writing is very good!
