I once thought that northern Myanmar was a paradise for getting rich with gold everywhere. A job offer with a high salary made me leave everything behind and rush for the so-called opportunity.
But the moment we cross the border, heaven turns into purgatory. There is no high salary, no freedom, only a cold cage, endless beatings and desperate wailing. This is a place outside the law and an abyss of humanity. Every breath is a gamble for life, and every silence is a survival.
From being deceived and tortured, to secretly observing and waiting for opportunities to fight back, I gritted my teeth and lived in the darkness, writing page after page of true survival records with blood and tears. There is no halo of the protagonist, no salvation from heaven, just an ordinary person on the edge of hell, desperately looking for a way to survive.
This is not a novel, it is a microcosm of the real experiences of countless people.
Once you step into northern Myanmar, if you think about turning back, you will have a narrow escape.
