[Modern romance × love-triangle comedy × lighthearted laughs]
When we were six, we made a promise: “When we grow up, I’ll marry you.” I was the only one who thought it was a joke. They remembered it for ten whole years.
Lin Chen, a third-year student at Jinjiang University, works part-time at a coffee shop and lives an ordinary, overworked life.
Until that day.
Su Wanqing, like a kind older girl next door, gently hands him a faded piece of candy wrapper. “Xiao Chen, do you remember this candy?”
The haughty, sharp-tongued Ye Li barges into the coffee shop. “Hey! Make me a coffee! ...Dummy, have you remembered yet or not?”
The gentle Bai Qianqian sings to him with heartfelt emotion at a concert. “Brother Lin Chen, I practiced this song for you.”
Lin Chen is dumbfounded.
He tries hard to remember, and finally recalls the unexpected incident one summer when he was six, at Jinjiang Park:
Four children got lost and took shelter from the rain in a security booth.
He shared his candy with three girls.
He scraped his knee saving a little bird.
When they parted, the three girls held his fingers and said, “When we grow up, we’ll marry you!”
Six-year-old Lin Chen thought it was just a childish joke.
Ten years passed, and he had long since forgotten.
But they, the young heiresses of the Su, Ye, and Bai families, had treated that promise as a lifelong commitment.
“We’ve come to collect on a debt that’s been outstanding for ten years.”
Lin Chen is on the verge of tears. “Ladies, I’m just working here!”
Su Wanqing smiles. “It’s all right. I’ll keep waiting for you.”
Ye Li blushes. “Dummy! I’ll make you remember! W-who told you to forget?”
Bai Qianqian says gently, “Take your time remembering, Brother Lin Chen. I have plenty of time.”
The book is okay, but the author's ability to find accompanying pictures needs to be improved.
The author's writing is quite good, but I personally don't like reading this genre very much. I would like to give you five stars to encourage you.
