Zhang Huiping has been having a run of bad luck.
Just a month into the job, she caught the attention of her department supervisor, Lin Na. Reports go wrong, her proposals get plagiarized, and her credit gets stolen. Every time, she can only swallow her anger in silence.
Worse still, this is the third time she's forgotten her keys.
On a stormy night, she crouches outside her shared apartment, soaked to the skin. Her roommate, Wang Hongrui, once said that the third time she knocked, he wouldn't open the door.
But the door opens anyway. A towel flies her way, accompanied by his lazy, "How many times now?"
Zhang Huiping thinks this helpless man, who can't even order takeout, is the only warmth she has in this city. He leaves the light on for her, makes her porridge when she works overtime, and awkwardly comforts her when she's bullied.
Until one day, she cries her eyes out in the company restroom, then looks up and sees him standing in front of her in a suit. Someone behind him calls him "President Wang."
He's the heir who is about to take over the company.
The roommate who can't even make tomato and egg stir-fry is her future boss.
What she doesn't know is that every problem that mysteriously disappeared after she was given a hard time this past month, every "chance encounter" at just the right moment, and every light left on for her when she came home late...
All of it was his doing.
He says, "No matter who I am, the door to this apartment will always be open to you."
But just when she finally gathers the courage to get closer to him, she discovers that the person behind Lin Na is waiting to use her to destroy him.
How much longer will the light in their shared apartment stay on?
When protection becomes a weakness and love becomes a blade, can they still open the door to each other's hearts?
