The little guy at the bottom awakens to the perspective of God in the virtual world. When he dies, he unlocks omniscience. He originally thought that the virtual world is a prison. After waking up, he finds that the real world is more terrifying and desperate than the virtual world. He uses the power of virtuality to subvert the real rules.
