Abandoned by the Gods

After surviving a brush with death in the Land Abandoned by the Gods, paper-cutting artisan Li Liluo and her Dao companion Zhang Jiuyang think they can retire to the countryside and establish a sect. But scattered fragments of the “Heavenly Book” are silently corrupting the world, spawning strange monsters and ghost servants. From a plague in Jiangnan and a shadow-puppet troupe to a demon woman in a mirror and a painted-shadow gentleman, danger swirls beneath the calm of everyday life. Armed with the ancestral “Guarding the Ordinary Shears” and bearing the inscrutable “Obsession Shears” and “Delusion Shears,” they are forced back into the fray. Following the cruel “stories” left behind by the Heavenly Book, they exorcise demons and banish evil, uncover forgotten ancient secrets, and confront the cold rules that seek to reshape the world. This is a long struggle to protect the “ordinary” amid the warmth of everyday life and the uncanny.
