Reborn in Honor of Kings S1: From Streamer to World Champion

The night of the 2025 Honor of Kings World Champion Cup Finals. In a drafty rented room in an urban village, 28-year-old Li An curled up on a freezing wooden bed. The agony of end-stage cirrhosis left him too weak even to lift a hand. He was a failure whose esports dream had been crushed by fate. In Season 1, at 16, he reached the top of his region in solo queue. At 18, he was approached by a scout from a professional team. But in his youth, he was tricked into handing over his family's entire 180,000 yuan in savings and signing a predatory contract. He ended up owing over a million yuan in compensation, missing the prime years for a professional player. To pay off the debt, his mother worked three jobs a day, washing dishes and hauling cargo. Years of exhausting labor left her with late-stage lung cancer. He couldn't even scrape together enough for her surgery, and could only watch helplessly as she died in his arms. Afterward, he took coaching and gaming companion jobs day and night. He stayed in the national top ten in the peak rankings for years, until his fingers could no longer grip his phone. When his tendonitis flared up, he could barely hold chopsticks. In his final moments, as his consciousness faded, Li An saw his mother hunched over, washing dishes in cold water; his own tear-streaked face after signing the contract; the five-star red flag rising over the World Champion Cup stage; and the regret that would haunt him forever. If he could start over, he would make it to the highest stage in the world, draped in the five-star red flag, and let the whole world know his name. He would make everyone see that brilliant shade of Chinese red!
