Hands Off, Gold Diggers

Shen Yan has spent twenty years repairing air conditioners in Guangzhou. Out of gratitude for a small kindness from eight years ago, he gives Lin Manrou his whole heart, money, and effort, becoming a “sucker” in everyone else’s eyes.

Only after stumbling upon the truth does he realize that his guilt and soft heart were nothing but bargaining chips for her to profit from.

From then on, he steers clear of gold diggers. The good-hearted man of the past puts his feelings away, hits the books, earns professional certifications, and becomes a community social worker with firm principles.

When he runs into the down-and-out Lin Manrou again, he says only, “I don’t give my heart to people who leave it cold.”
