This is a novel with the background of rescuing and protecting famous Chinese classical paintings. Although the protagonist Pei Danqing was born with cleft lip and palate, she used her perseverance to complete the 72 destroyed classical collections. The book is divided into three parts: upper, middle and lower parts.
The first part is centered on a wedding that caused a sensation in Pingyao County, Shanxi Province during the Republic of China. It uses the 72 kang cabinets that Fenglan, the queen of a wealthy family, brought as her dowry to kick off a vicious battle between the rich and the poor. After Wang Fenglan's dowry and part of the kang cabinet were robbed by the family's sisters-in-law, she took her daughter Pei Danxia and her newborn second daughter Pei Danqing to her husband who was doing business in Fenzhou Prefecture overnight.
The second part takes the second daughter Pei Danqing as the axis, describing the childhood pain of this girl born with cleft lip and palate. She experienced the liberation of Fenzhou Prefecture from a childlike perspective. My sister Pei Danxia was deceived into having her feelings by a gangster. After luring the wolf into the house, the so-called brother-in-law Zhao Sangou used all means to hunt for her family's antiques and kang cabinets. Especially during the Cultural Revolution, her family's antiques and kang cabinets were robbed for the second time. Danqing takes the stories and characters on the kang cabinet as inspirational goals, and immerses himself in imitation painting to bury the pain in his heart.
The third part narrates the joys and sorrows brought to Danqing by the movement of educated youths from the mountains to the countryside in the 1970s. It focuses on describing the tragic love between Dan Qing and Chen Mo. With her lifelong pursuit of painting, she finally completed 72 Chinese classical paintings on 72 kang cabinets, and the works were exhibited at the Louvre in Paris. In the exhibition hall, two gray-haired old men, Dan Qing and Chen Mo, met. Although they were not married, they achieved a perfect spiritual fusion and wrote a magnificent love story with their life experiences.

Painter Dan Qing was born with cleft lip and palate, and her mother and bizarre childhood experiences were her teachers. The mother's 72 dowry kang cabinets bear witness to the joys and sorrows of three generations, and at the same time, depict Qing's miserable and tortuous childhood and youth experiences. This is an inspirational novel that shines with the glory of women, and it is also a revelation of despicable human nature in the transition between old and new eras.
