In the suburbs of Beijing in 1973, a young man who lost his mother discovered a mysterious treasure map in a shabby old book bought for 60 cents.
The treasure in the picture is said to be hidden deep in Xiangshan Mountain in a place called "Guanjing Pavilion". In order to find this legendary place, Fatty Wang and his best friend Xiaoliuzi rode broken bicycles through the dusty alleys and mountains. They asked the old lady who burned the stove for directions, stayed with the weird old man who guarded the courtyard, and gradually approached the secret hidden in the smoke of history.
Finally, they discovered a mysterious cave on the top of Xiangshan Mountain. There are thousand-year-old murals in the cave, incomprehensible Khitan inscriptions, and an empty coffin. Inside the coffin was only a piece of marble engraved with text. When Xiao Liuzi stared at the stone and laughed strangely, Fatty Wang realized that what they had touched might be far more than just treasure...
This is a story about loss and finding. After the death of his mother, a young man tries to find some kind of sustenance in an ancient book; an era, on the eve of change, tries to salvage forgotten memories from the gaps in history.
