In the city of Shenzhen, most houses are well-decorated, but life is not.
Cheng Fang used to be an interior designer and was good at planning movement routes, dividing spaces, and designing their lifestyle for the next ten years for strangers. Later, he left that job and began to take on commissions that no one wanted to take on:
Some people feel that there is "something wrong" with their house.
Some people suspect that the people living together are hiding something.
Others just want to confirm whether someone has really left.
He does not belong to the police system, nor is he a private detective in the traditional sense. He measured the room, looked at the baseboards, recorded the lighting angles, and judged the true state of a relationship from the structure of the food in the refrigerator and the wear and tear of the furniture. He uses space to understand the traces left by people, and in his investigations again and again, he tries to complete the life he has been procrastinating.
He was recovering from alcoholism, and it wasn't going well;
He still can't get stable design projects;
He lived in a rental house that was never finished.
In each story, he will walk into a new house and encounter a hidden relationship: control, escape, disappearance, reorganization, disguised marriage and designed life. And when a space is restored to its true appearance, he is one step closer to his own life.
This is a detective series about cities, addiction, intimacy and self-healing.
The case would be over, but his life would not.
