Widowed and Sold to the Deep Mountains, I Seek Safety in a Rugged Man's Arms

Su Wan was once a delicate young lady from the city, but her cruel adoptive parents sold her into the mountains to bring good fortune to a sick man.

On their wedding night, her frail husband kicked the bucket, leaving her the youngest and prettiest widow in Lijia Gou.

Her wicked mother-in-law wants to sell her off again. Her good-for-nothing brother-in-law lurks by the wall every night, and the village bachelors all eye her hungrily, eager to taste what a city woman is like.

To survive in this hellish mountain village, Su Wan sets her sights on Zhao Lie, who lives in a ramshackle hut at the foot of the mountain.

Zhao Lie is a rough-and-tumble veteran, broad-shouldered and radiating menace. They say he's seen blood, and even the village dogs go out of their way to avoid him.

Trembling with fear, Su Wan still unfastens her collar and throws herself into the sweaty arms of the man, her eyes reddening. "Brother Zhao Lie, please protect me..."

She thinks this is just a bargain exchanging her body for protection. Little does she know that the ferocious man has been rolling her name around in his mouth on countless hot, restless nights.

Highlights: A sweet, scheming beauty VS a fierce, devoted roughneck; a striking size and skin-tone contrast; intense push and pull; a vivid period setting.
