You Can't Escape, Wen Ran

A new story featuring a supporting couple from Eight Years of Delusion

Wen Ran is the addiction carved into Gu Shouli's bones, and the light he destroyed with his own hands.

At the year-end banquet, the room buzzes with people. While his childhood friends laugh and chat in the attic, Gu Shouli watches coldly, his heart dead.

One text message puts him through the wringer:

Wen Ran has a boyfriend.

To beg for forgiveness, he stabs himself three times, blood pouring everywhere,

but all he gets in return is the chill in Wen Ran's eyes.

He goes to City N, exiling himself to atone. When he returns, the love of his life is already someone else's husband.

He spies on him, follows him, and feels a rush of joy when he sees that Wen Ran isn't happy,

only to be struck with unbearable pain when he learns the truth:

All of Wen Ran's suffering was the bitter fruit of Gu Shouli's impulsive actions years ago.

He wants to protect him, cherish him, and spend the rest of his life making amends.

He thinks he can finally make things right, but a car accident leaves him with nothing but a handful of cold ashes.

He takes the urn with him and attempts suicide again and again, until he becomes little more than a walking corpse.

After three years of lifeless silence, a design draft drives him to madness and gives him a chance to start over.

The moment they reunite, all his self-control snaps.

He forces Wen Ran back to his side and locks him away in a cramped space.

“Hate me all you want. Then we'll be bound together in life and death.

If you try to run, I'll cut off every escape route.

From now on, love or hate, we'll torment each other until death.”
