Algorithmic Prisoner: I’m the Only Loophole in the Memory Palace is a science-fiction mystery novel set on an epic scale. The story takes place in a future world ruled by the “Memory Palace” System, which maintains so-called order and stability by tampering with and erasing human memories.
The protagonist, Lin Wan, appears to be a low-level “cleaner” in the System, tasked with removing memory fragments deemed redundant. However, a mission targeting subject R-7742 (Shen Que) unexpectedly triggers the truth sealed deep within her consciousness. Lin Wan is not a natural human at all, but a “personality vessel” created from the “Zero Prototype,” one of the tools mass-produced by the System to control the population and select the obedient. Shen Que was once a researcher on the project. After his conscience awoke, he became a fugitive “redundant,” waiting all along for Lin Wan’s consciousness to awaken.
After the two meet, Lin Wan gradually uncovers the shocking conspiracy behind the “Cocoon Project”: the System is attempting to replace every individual with independent thoughts through memory transplantation. With Shen Que’s guidance and sacrifice, Lin Wan transforms from a confused tool into a leader of the resistance. She joins forces with other awakened people and exploits the System’s only loophole, her own will that has not been completely erased, to challenge the vast algorithmic empire. She hopes to rebuild humanity’s true memories and free will amid the ruins.
