Strange Tales of Corpse Driving in Western Hunan

On a rainy night deep in the mountains, a master and his apprentice travel with a corpse. When they reach the Miao frontier, the body suddenly comes back to life and flees. They track it to Yinshen Village, only to learn that everything was part of a deadly revenge plot laid by a Miao priest.

To protect his apprentice and escape with the corpse, the master destroys his own cultivation and dies in the wilderness. All he leaves behind is Li Caibei, a novice now alone, carrying a dead body on his back as he sets out on a perilous journey home.
